-AMANDA
Hey Cysters,
I'm a 34 y.o. living in San Francisco who was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 19. Met has been a miracle - restoring my periods and balancing my moods - but I have to wonder how much better I would feel with consistant exercise and a low carb diet.
Two years ago, I trained for four months to walk a marathon - with an eye on losing weight and better controlling my PCOS. Despite consistant effort (miles walked!), I did not lose a SINGLE POUND and turned away from excercise as a result. For that reason, I am hesitant to post a weight goal for myself. Perhaps my goal should be to realize that a consistant diet/excercise program will be benefitial, regardless of how much weight I do/do not lose.
Kind of a rough concept to accept :P \With support, I think I can move forward with my goals even if the scale does not move backwards!
So - please find my contract below courtesy of NINA.
Good luck to all. I look forward to supporting and getting to know you as we move thought these next 12 weeks.

My Contract
I, Amanda hereby commit to the next 12 weeks as a time to focus on my health and my weight. The following are rules that I will follow:
1. At least 8 workouts a week (8 hours). I will record my workouts.
2. Keeping a food journal and concentrating on eating food that is healthy and low in carbohydrates. If I stray from my eating plan, I will write a page on why I think this happened and start to plan how to get back on track.
3. Limit eating out to twice a week.
4. I will write in my journal when I am upset rather than eating.
5. To take my metformin daily and keep a log of when I take my medicine and other supplements (including fish oil, folic acid, etc)
6. I will weigh in every Monday and record this weight. I will also at that time write one to two paragraphs on my reflections of the previous week and whether anything new should be added to my contract or routine.
7. During the next 12 weeks I will stray from the diet on only three occassions, and for only one meal during that day. I will pick these occasions ahead of time.
8. I will stop eating 3 hours before bed.
9. I will add things to my contract as I see fit.
Start Date: Monday, February 21, 2005
Goal: To know I am doing all I can to control my PCOS through diet and exercise.
Goal: 10 lbs.
Signed
Amanda

Oprah's Boot Camp Contract
I, _____________________________ hereby commit to 12 weeks of regular vigorous exercise—that’s eight workouts a week—and to self-control when it comes to eating. I will be focused on challenging my abilities in the pursuit of elevating my physical performance.
In addition, with the exception of three days, I will not indulge in any alcoholic beverages during the 12-week period, regardless of the nature of the temptation. I will also terminate my consumption of all food three hours prior to my bedtime. I will endeavor to be conscious of when and why I eat and will, to the best of my ability, eat simply to satisfy my nutritional needs as opposed to my emotional needs. I will also do my best to make healthful food choices.
I realize that this contract is solely with myself and that it carries no rewards, penalties, or punishments other than those associated with the reflection of the strength of my character.
